Error: Unable to load data list. Unable to connect to Blackbaud Web Services...The remote server returned an error: (504) Gateway Timeout -- when adding a query of records from Raiser's Edge to ResearchPoint

Some users experience this error when adding a query of records into ResearchPoint:

Error: Unable to load data list. Unable to connect to Blackbaud Web Services. Ensure that Blackbaud Web Services is running in The Raiser's Edge Web Service Console, and that the proper RE database key is set in ResearchPoint.
The remote server returned an error: (504) Gateway Timeout.
Try the following to resolve the error:
  • Break up the query into smaller sections.How to split a Research List into smaller Research Groups
  • Check the Gifts tab of the Raiser's Edge records. If they have many gifts (e.g. bi-monthly pledge payments for a couple of years), the large numbers of gift records may cause the integration to time out. To resolve this:
    • Log into ResearchPoint and go to Home > The Raiser's Edge Integration > Configure Fields
    • Select the Sync from The Raiser's Edge tab
    • Unmark the box for Giving Summary
    • Try to Add List from RE again

Steps to Duplicate

1) Log into ResearchPoint
2) Go to Prospects > Add list from RE
3) Select a query
4) Select to Add All Remaining records
