Formula and summary field
  1. From the Field Explorer, right-click on Formula Fields and select New
  2. Enter a name for the formula and click OK
  3. Formula code:

    Single date: if Gf_Date = Date(2016,01,01) then Gf_Amount

    Date range: if Gf_Date in Date(2016,01,01) to Date(2016,12,31) then Gf_Amount

  • Click Save and Close
  • Go to Insert > Summary
  • Select the new formula field and select "Sum" as the type of summary
  • Click OK
If there is duplication and the total appears to be inflated, we will need to use a Running Total instead of the summary
  1. From the Field Explorer, right-click on Running Total Fields and select New
  2. Field to summarize: the formula created above
  3. Type of summary: Sum
  4. Evaluate - on change of field: Gf_IDKEY
  5. Reset: Never (for a grand total)
