Error: Data could not be saved. The UPDATE statement conflicted with the CHECK constraint "CK_REGISTRANT_VALIDCONSTITUENTID". The conflict occurred in database "XXX", table "dbo.REGISTRANT" - when trying to merge organizational records

When trying to merge two organizational records in Altru, you may encounter the following error: 

Data could not be saved. The UPDATE statement conflicted with the CHECK constraint "CK_REGISTRANT_VALIDCONSTITUENTID". The conflict occurred in database "XXXX", table "dbo.REGISTRANT".
Instead of merging, try to delete the organization record you no longer need that doesn't have revenue.
  1. Go to Constituents > Constituent search.
  2. Open the record you no longer need.
  3. Click Delete under Tasks.

Steps to Duplicate

  1. From Constituents, select Duplicates
  2. Select Merge Two constituents
  3. Enter your source and target constituents
  4. Click Merge
  5. See error
