You would first need to request the student's preferred course, using the following steps:
  1. Navigate to Academics.
  2. Search for the student in People Finder and click on their name.
  3. Click on their Course Requests tab.
  4. Click the Manage wrench next to the appropriate semester.
  5. Click the + Request button to add the preferred course to the list on the right.
Next, you can add an alternate course from the same screen, using the following steps:
  1. Click on the down arrow button next to the title of the alternate course. A list of requested courses will appear under the heading Alternate For.
  2. Click on the preferred course. The alternate course will now appear in smaller letters under the preferred course in the list on the right.
The student would be able to follow the same procedure from their own course request tabs.

Note: Alternate Course Requests cannot be added for Required Courses
