Error: Internet Explorer has stopped working - when clicking Edit Document

When you click Edit Document while in a document record, using Internet Explorer, you may get the following error due to a trusted sites issue: "Internet Explorer has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

I get an error in Internet Explorer when I click edit document.
To resolve this error message, remove the [site] and from Trusted Sites in the Internet Explorer options, save, and add them back.
  1. With Internet Explorer open, click on the gear icon OR the Tools menu and select Internet Options.
  2. Click on the Security tab.
  3. Select Trusted Sites.
  4. Click the Sites button.
  5. From the list select the [site] URL and click Remove.
  6. Do the same for the URL.
  7. Click Close.
  8. Click Apply.
  9. Click the Sites button again.
  10. Put https://[site] (example: in the "Add this website to the zone:" entry field.
  11. Click Add.
  12. Repeat for the URL.
  13. Click Close.
  14. Click OK.
