A Sender Permitted Framework (SPF) record is a DNS record that can be published for a domain (such as 'example.com') that contains a list of servers allowed to send email for that domain.

To check for the presence of SPF record for a particular domain and to see what it contains follow these steps:
  1. Navigate to MXToolBox SuperTool at http://mxtoolbox.com/SuperTool.aspx
  2. Enter the domain in the field.  For example 'blackbaud.com'
  3. Click the down arrow on the right-side of the orange button.  Choose SPF Record Lookup
  4. Click the orange button.
This will display the SPF record for the domain entered on Step 2.  If there is no SPF record published for the domain, the result will be 'No records found.'
