Raiser's Edge crashes when globally adding email actions

When adding globally adding actions  to constituents in The Raiser's Edge, the application freezes and crashes when selecting the action category of Email.
This error can occur if the database contains Phone Type table entries with invalid formats. For example, types such as 90946355_Addr are seen as invalid, and will make the function fail. If there are invalid Phone Types, use Table Cleanup to replace them with valid Phone Type formats: How to clean up tables.


Alternative Solutions
  1. Globally add actions to constituents but use a different category.
  2. Globally change the action category to Email.
OR

Import the actions.
 

Steps to Duplicate


In client's Raiser's Edge database:
  1. Log into The Raiser's Edge.
  2. Go to Admin > Globally Add Records.
  3. Select Action in the Add field.
  4. Click Action Information...
  5. Select Category of Email.
  6. Freeze / Crash occurs. Or click Save and Close and freeze / crash occurs.
  7. Additionally:
  • Repeat steps 1 - 4. Select another category and add some information. Switch to Email and freeze / crash occurs.
  • Repeat steps 1 - 3. Click Include and add a Query. Proceed with step 4 and and freeze / crash occurs.
  • Repeat steps 1 - 3. Click Include and add a Query. Click Action Information... Select another category and add some information. Switch to Email and freeze / crash occurs.
