Why is my Sphere report blank when I export it to Excel?

An organization has run a report in Sphere and clicked Export to XLS to export the results to Microsoft Excel. An export file is successfully created, but the report is blank when opened in Microsoft Excel. 
It is recommended that you work with the IT department at your organization to help you go through the following information, as they would be more familiar with this type of troubleshooting and your computer's setup. 

Step 1: Ensure that the browser you are using to run and export the report is compatible with Sphere: What is the recommended internet browser for Blackbaud Sphere? Step 2: You can also use the following troubleshooting steps in Microsoft Excel:
  1. Open Excel
  2. Navigate to File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings 
  3. Select Protected View
  4. Unmark Enable Protected View for files originating from the Internet
  5. Click OK
