Error encountered when submitting credit card payment: Unable to connect to the remote server. - when submitting an event registration

This error message appears when a user is submitting an event registration transaction on a NetCommunity website that is non-hosted.
Try to access https://payments.blackbaud.com on the webserver. If it is not successful, this is a firewall or Host file entry issue.

Check the firewall to make sure that the Blackbaud Secure Payments IP addresses are whitelisted. If the IPs are whitelisted, temporarily open all traffic as a next test.

Also, check the Hosts file to see if there are entries for payments.blackbaud.com and make sure the IP address is correct.

Steps to Duplicate

  1. Go to the event registration page.
  2. Select a ticket level with a price.
  3. Click Continue.
  4. Fill out the form information.
  5. Click Continue.
  6. Receive error: Error encountered when submitting credit card payment: Unable to connect to the remote server.
