Online Express data type of Date becomes a free text field causing incorrect date formats

When including an attribute of Date of Birth as a data type of date, donors can enter free text including dots or dashes as date separators. This can cause the processing of Online Express transactions to fail.
For each transaction that has an incorrect date format, please do the following:
  1. Highlight the transaction generating the error
  2. Click on the transaction information tab
  3. Press F7 on your keyboard 
  4. In the window that appears, manually change the date format to be DD/MM/YYYY (note the slashes)
  5. Click Save and Close
  6. Click Process Transaction
  7. Repeat steps 1-6 for each impacted transaction 

Steps to Duplicate

Steps to Duplicate:
  1. Create a date attribute under Config > Attributes > Participant in The Raiser's Edge
  2. Open an Event Form in Online Express Plugin
  3. Go to Extras tab
  4. Select your date attribute
  5. Open the Online Express form on your browser
  6. Go through the event registration process and when you get to the attribute section, you'll notice the field is free-text. Enter in 14.06.95 for example
  7. Open the Online Express Plugin
  8. Go to Events
  9. Download Transactions
  10. Attempt to process this transaction to a batch - note the error you get
  11. Click on the transaction and go to 'Transaction Information' - note the attribute date is in the wrong format
