You have two options to create a query of brand new ticket or merchandise buyers to your organization.

Option 1: Query on Patron Constituency
If your organization has the system-generated constituency of Patron in active Altru, Altru will automatically add the constituency of patron to the constituent's record. The Date from field should correspond to the constituent's first ticket or merchandise order. You can query on everyone who had the Patron constituency added recently:
  1. Go to Analysis > Information Library
  2. Click Add a new ad-hoc query
  3. Select the Source View of Constituents
  4. From the left column, highlight Constituencies. From the middle, drag Constituency to Include Records Where. Set this to be equal to Patron. Your field should appear like this: Constituencies/Constituency is equal to Patron
  5. If you're looking for patrons who made their first purchase recently, also drag Date from from the middle column to Include Records Where. Set this to be equal to your date range. For example: Constituencies/Date from is equal to Last Week would find anyone who had their first merchandise/ticket order last week.
  6. To finish your query, add any necessary fields to Results Fields to Display.
  7. On the Set Save Options Tab, save your query to access later. If you'll be using this query in a mailing process, also be sure to mark the box to Create a selection.
Here is an example of the final query:

Option 2: Query on Newly Added Patrons
If your organization would like to limit your query to only patrons brand new to your organization, you can also pull a query of any constituent who has added on the same date as their sales transaction.
Go to Analysis > Information Library
  1. Click Add a new ad-hoc query
  2. Select the Source View of Constituents
  3. From the left column, highlight Sales Orders. From the middle column, drag Transaction date into Include Records Where. Set this to be equal to the date range you're looking for. For example: Sales Orders\Transaction date is equal to last week will find any patrons that had sales transactions last week.
  4. Important Step: Also drag Transaction Date to Results fields to display.
  5. (Optional) If you would only like to include constituents that are newly added through a specific sales method (for example, only online, advance or daily sales--not group sales), from the middle column, drag Sales method type to Include Records Where. Set this to be equal to the sales methods you are looking for. For example: Sales Orders/Sales Method Type is one of Online Sales, Daily Sales, or Advance Sales
  6. Next, scroll up and highlight Constituents at the very top of the left column. From the middle column, drag Date Added to Include Records Where. In the Apply Criteria window, set the Date Added field to be an Output field and select Sales Order\Transaction Date. This will find any constituents that were newly added on the same date as their transaction:
