  • Minimum Password Length refers to the minimum number of characters that can be in a password
  • Minimum Password Age will prevent users from changing their password until this time frame is met; for example, we can set the minimum age length to 2 days so that users cannot change their password more than one time every two day
  • Maximum Password Age will require users to change their password once a password reaches this limit; for example we can set the maximum age to 90 to require users to change their passwords every 90 days
  • Unique Password History prevents users from re-using passwords; for example, we could set this field to 3 so that users cannot repeat any of their last three passwords when they reset their password
  • Require Complex Passwords will require that passwords contain three of the following four items- a lower case letter, an upper case letter, a number, and a special character

On the right side of this page you will notice three buttons that say Low Security, Medium Security, and High Security. While you can set your own preferences for any of the fields listed above, these buttons will make suggestions for the fields based on your preference for low, medium, or high security.
