When a donation is made to sponsor an individual or team, eTapestry attaches a soft credit to the Gift that is entered. The account the soft credit is added to is the 'sponsored' individual or team. In the screenshot below, Maria Smith is the participant that has been sponsored on a $10 donation:

Therefore, in order to query on donations without a sponsorship attached, we must create several queries so that we can subtract donations with a soft credit attached:

A. First we query on all transactions to the Personal Fundraiser site:
  1. Click the Queries button on the menu bar
  2. Select a category that you want to store this query in (Ex: Base)
  3. Click New Query under the Tasks menu
  4. Name the query “All fundraiser transactions”
  5. Set the Starting Query to Base: All Constituents – A
  6. Set the Data Return Type to Journal Entries
  7. Select Match Each Criteria under the Criteria Matching field
  8. Select Commonly Used Fields from the Browse Fields drop down menu and click Individual Transaction Received
  9. Fill in Greater Than or Equal To 1
  10. Select Defined Fields from the Browse Fields drop down menu and click Fundraisers
  11. Check off the box next to the Fundraiser
  12. Click Save And – Preview

B. Next we will query on only those Personal Fundraiser transactions with a soft credit attached:
  1. Click the Queries button on the menu bar
  2. Select a category that you want to store this query in (Ex: Base)
  3. Click New Query under the Tasks menu
  4. Name the query “Fundraiser transactions with attached sponsorship"
  5. Set the Starting Query to Base: All Constituents – A
  6. Set the Data Return Type to Journal Entries
  7. Select Match Each Criteria under the Criteria Matching field
  8. Select Commonly Used Fields from the Browse Fields drop down menu and click Journal Entry Types
  9. Check off ‘Soft Credit’ (do not check off any other fields)
  10. Select Defined Fields from the Browse Fields drop down menu and click Fundraisers
  11. Check off the box next to the Fundraiser
  12. Click Save And – Preview

C. Now we will create a compound query to subtract out the transactions with a soft credit attached (Query B) from all Personal Fundraiser transactions (Query A):
  1. Click the Queries button on the menu bar
  2. Select a category that you want to store this query in (Ex: Base)
  3. Click New Compound Query under the tasks menu
  4. Name the query “Fundraiser transactions with no sponsorship”
  5. Set the Data Return Type to Journal Entries
  6. Select Subtract under How Would You Like The Results Of Each Query To Interact?
  7. Set Query 1 to  “All fundraiser transactions”, the query we created in Step A
  8. Set Query 2 to  “Fundraiser transactions with attached sponsorship", the query we created in Step B
  9. Click Save And Preview
