email jobs stuck in "Processing" state over 24 hour period

Email jobs successfully send but get stuck in a "processing" status, emails do successfully send but never finish. 
This occurred due to an issue on our email servers updating the status of the jobs in the calling database.  It has been corrected at the server level.  A script was provided to update the status of jobs in the calling database.  

Steps to Duplicate

1. Create an scheduled email job..
2. Let it run.
3. Notice it never finishes gets stuck in processing state.
4 Note the email does send most of the time.
