Error: Error loading list - when uploading a query with at least 80,000 recipients

With the Online Express Email Marketing performance enhancements that were released on 10/04/16 and 10/11/16, users should be able to upload queries with 300,000 email recipients and send emails to this query list without any issue. After the performance enhancement release, some users are still noticing that they cannot upload a query with at least 80,000 recipients without receiving the error Error loading list.  If the user uses a query with less than 80,000 recipients, the query list generates with success.
This has been resolved with the performance enhancements for Online Express that were released between October-December 2016.
If you are still experiencing this behavior, please contact Support with the following information:
  • Are you hosted with Blackbaud or does your organization host your database on your own servers?
  • Does this behavior occur for all RE user accounts or only specific RE accounts?
  • If your database is hosted by Blackbaud, does this behavior occur for all Citrix accounts or only specific Citrix accounts?
  • If your organization hosts your database on your own servers, does this occur on all workstations or just specific workstations?
  • How many recipients are in the query you are attempting to upload?
  • Are you marking the Send to individual & organization relationship records checkbox when uploading the query?
  • Do you have the Send to ALL mapped email types for each constituent checkbox marked in the Account>Integration options section of the Online Express plugin?
  • Have you ever been able to upload a query with at 80,000 recipients without receiving any errors or performance trouble?  
    • If so, when was the last time you were able to do so?
    • If so, what is the largest number of recipients you were ever able to upload to an email list?
    • What is the name of this email list?
    • When was the last time you used this email list for an email?
    • Did the email successfully send?
  • What is the largest number of recipients that you can currently upload into a new email list without generating the error?

Steps to Duplicate

1. Log into The Raiser's Edge
2. Click Query
3. Look for a query with at least 80,000 constituents that are not marked Inactive or Deceased, have a valid email address, and the email address type is one of the mapped email address types in Account>Integration Options, Email mapping in the Online Express plugin
4. Click the Online Express plugin
5. Click Email marketing
6. Click Manage lists
7. Click Create new list
8. Type a name for your list in the List name field
9. Click Add a query
10. Search for the query found in step 3
11. Click Save & close
12. Error appears
