Record does not exist when importing to update relationship email address via a Relationship Import

When looking to update an Individual Relationship Phone via import based on an Organisation record, the exception 'Record does not exist for field 'IRPhoneImpID' is generated.
We have evaluated this issue as a potential defect and we have determined it will not be addressed in the software in its current state.  In this case, the risks and challenges outweigh the potential benefit of resolving this issue.

We wish we could address each and every issue that we come across, but there are occasions when addressing certain issues would add risk to causing a bigger problem or would put other prioritized initiatives at risk. 

We strive to select the most impactful changes and issues to address with each release to accelerate the rate at which we deliver new features while sustaining the highest level of quality for our customers.

Steps to Duplicate

  1. Create a new Constituent record on The Raiser's Edge for individual John Smith
  2. Create a new Organisation record on The Raiser's Edge for Organisation Acme
  3. On the Individual Record > Relationships > New Organisation Relationship and add Acme from above and choose to reciprocate the relationship
  4. Open the Organisation Relationship record from with in the Individual Record and add an email address to the record
  5. In Query, create a Constituent Query to pick up the specific individual record
  6. In Query, create a Constituent Query to pick up the specific organisation record
  7. Create a new Import in Admin > Import > Constituent > Organisation Relationship Phone
  8. Choose the option to 'Create import file' using all fields and choose the option to include a query and select the individual query from step 5 above
  9. In the CSV file that is created, remove all lines except the one that contains the email address entered in step 4 and save the file
  10. In the same import type (Admin > Import > Constituent > Organisation Relationship Phone) choose the option to 'Update existing records' and select the file saved in step 9
  11. Validate the import and no exceptions are generated
  12. Create a new Import in Admin > Import > Constituent > Individual Relationship Phone
  13. Choose the option to 'Create import file' using all fields and choose the option to include a query and select the Organisation query from step 6 above
  14. In the CSV files that is created, remove all lines except the one that contains the email address entered in step 4 and save the file
  15. In the same import type (Admin > Import > Constituent > Individual Relationship Phone) choose the option to 'Update the existing records' and select the file saved in step 14
  16. Validate the import and receive the exception IRPhoneImpID, Record does not exist
