1.    In Store Operations Manager, select Database, Registers, Custom POS Buttons from the menu bar
2.    Note the highest number in the Number column, and click New
3.    In the Number field enter a number larger than the largest number just noted
4.    Select External Program from the Style list
5.    Type a label for the custom POS button in the Caption field
6.    In the Command field enter the the directory and file name for the program used to open the file in quotation marks, then a space, then the path to the file to open.

For example, to open a Microsoft Word document the command would look similar to this:

e.g. "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\WINWORD.EXE" "C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\sample.doc"

7.    Enter any additional information in the Description box (optional). This box is used for information only and does not appear on the POS screen.
8.    To add a graphic for the custom POS button click Load and select a graphics file. If you do not load a graphic, the default graphic for the button is a 3.5-inch floppy disk.
