Error: Error loading Grid: General ODBC Error:[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Failed to create AppDomain RaisersEdge.dbo[runtime].9 Not enough storage is available to process this command. Native error 6517 - when searching for constituents

While searching constituent records within the Raiser's Edge you may receive the following error message
 
Error loading grid: General ODBC Error:[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Failed to create AppDomain "RaiserEdge.dob[runtime].9".
Could not load file or assembly 'System.Xml, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' or one of its dependencies.  Not enough storage is available to process this command. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070008) Native error:6517

This issue is known to occur when using a 32-bit instance of SQL Server 2012, 2014, or 2016 on a 64-bit version of Windows Server utilizing more than 4GB of RAM.    The 'AWE Enabled' feature in SQL 2008 and earlier allowing 32-bit SQL instances the ability to access more than 4GB of RAM was removed by Microsoft in SQL 2012 and higher.

To resolve this issue:

  • Install and use a SQL Server 64-bit instance.
