Payment date is grayed out - when adding a new payment

The payment date field cannot be changed when adding a new payment.  Is it possible to enter a different payment date?

Unchecking the box for "Do not allow post dates to be different than transaction dates in Other Blackbaud Systems" will make it possible to enter a different payment date when creating a new payment.  However,  Blackbaud recommends keeping this box checked to help the reconciliation process run more smoothly.  If transaction dates are the same as the post dates then they will be together on reports, and it will be simpler to search transactions.  

Another option is to leave the box checked.  Instead, create a new deposit with the deposit date and post date that should be the desired payment date.  

Steps to Duplicate

The payment date is grayed out because of a setting that causes the payment date to be the same as the post date.
  1. Go to the General Ledger module
  2. Click Configuration > Business Rules
  3. Highlight Transaction
If the box is checked for "Do not allow post dates to be different than transaction dates in Other Blackbaud Systems," then your payment date box cannot be edited when entering a new payment.  This is because the payment post date is the same as the deposit post date.  The system is then setting the transaction (payment) date to match the post date.
