Response Categories and Responses Mark inactive button does not function the same as the inactive checkbox after clicking the Edit button for a Response Category or Response

When choosing to mark a Response Category or Response inactive, using the Mark inactive button will not allow the category or response to become inactive if it is in use. If the category or response is marked inactive by clicking the Edit button on the category or response and then checking the Inactive checkbox, it will allow the category or response to become inactive even if it's in use.
We are currently evaluating this issue for a fix in a future service pack.

Steps to Duplicate

1. Click the Marketing and Communications tab
2. Click Response categories and responses under Configuration
3. Add a response category
4. Add a couple of responses to that category
5. Apply your created response category and response. The easiest might be to search for a major giving prospect under the Prospects tab, choose a constituent in the results, go to their Documentation and Interactions tab on their constituent page, and under Interactions(assuming you chose a constituent that has an interaction) edit the response of an interaction and add your category/response to it. Save it.
6. Go back to the Response categories and responses page.
7. Mark the category you created inactive using the Mark inactive button.
8. Notice you will get a message about the category being in use.
9. Click Edit on the category you created.
10. Check the Inactive box and click Save.
11. Notice this method allows the category to become inactive. These steps also apply to responses within categories.
