Inconsistancies with dots or periods within a Gmail email address.

You may notice when using a Gmail address that the periods or dots that separate a user's name in an email address such as John.smith@gmail.com could appear as johnsmith@gmail.com

You might get messages sent to an address that looks like yours, but has a different number or order of periods.

If you have a personal account (typically ending in gmail.com), it doesn't matter if people type the period in your username or not.

For example, emails to all of these addresses will be delivered to the same Gmail account:

  • johnsmith@gmail.com
  • jo.hn.smith@gmail.com
  • john.smith@gmail.com

Steps to Duplicate

1.Send an email to a user with a gmail account.
2.Wait for them to receive it.
3.Note how it appears.
