Error: There was a problem saving the constituent: General ODBC Error: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server]{SQL Server]Incorrect syntax near {field}. Native error:102 - when processing a constituent update in the RELO plugin

When processing a constituent update in the RELO plug-in that contains a field with an apostrophe (such as an email address or Luminate user name), the user may receive the following error:

There was a problem saving the constituent: General ODBC Error: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] Incorrect syntax near {field}.
Native error:102
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server][Unclosed quotation mark after the character string ".
Native error:105
To resolve the error and allow the update to be processed,
  1. Unmark the checkboxes of the affected fields.  
  2. Copy the field values to the clipboard.
  3. Click Process and Open
  4. Manually add the information to the constituent record
  5. Click Save and Close
