This article details why DeceasedRecordFinder may have returned a deceased date of 09/09/9999 for certain constituents.
Due to new privacy restrictions that are being imposed by the U.S. Department of Commerce and the National Technical Information Service we are no longer able to provide the date-of-death for individuals that have died in the past three years.
This is an effort to prevent fraud and possible identity theft surrounding recently deceased individuals. Therefore, protections are now in place to prevent disclosure of this information for a period of three years after death.
We can still match your records to these protected records. However, we will not be allowed to return the specific date of death for records that are within the protected three-year time frame.
We have updated The Raiser's Edge in 7.96 Patch 12 to reflect this change. The Raiser's Edge will now add the DeceasedRecordFinder results as an attribute when returned without a deceased date. However, prior to this update records that fell within this three year period received a deceased date of 09/09/9999.
