Error: Access to The Raiser's Edge install directory and subdirectories has been denied, when unmarking Work Offline in Microsoft Outlook

When unmarking the Work Offline option in The Raiser's Edge Outlook Add-in and logging into the database, users may receive the following error:  Access to The Raiser's Edge install directory and subdirectories has been denied. User rights should be checked.
This error only occurs on machines where the security feature User Account Control (UAC) is enabled. 

We have evaluated this issue as a bug and we have determined it will not be addressed in the program in its current state.  In this case, we believe the risks and challenges outweigh the potential benefit of resolving this issue. We strive to select the most impactful changes and issues to address with each release to accelerate the rate at which we deliver new features while sustaining the highest level of quality for our customers.

Steps to Duplicate

  1. Enable Outlook integration: How to enable or disable Outlook synchronization
  2. Open Outlook and select the Addins tab     
  3. Select The Raiser's Edge and mark Work Offline     
  4. Select The Raiser's Edge and unmark Work Offline     
  5. At The Raiser's Edge login window that comes up enter in credentials and press enter     
  6. Receive the error message
