When attempting to update blank Industry records in 3.0 or 4.0 CRM the Constituent Update Batch fails to populate Constituents Record.
We are currently evaluating this issue for a fix in a future service pack.
Steps to Duplicate
1. Create an Ad-Hoc query Include records where Industry is equal to blank and results field display includes Name, Lookup ID, Industry, Type and Last/Organization/Group/Household name. 2. Export as comma delimited csv then change the industry on each record to desired input. 3. Save csv to local PC 4. Import into a Constituent Import Process by selecting Import Source as Local file and selecting file saved to local PC. 5. Click Map Fields. 6. In the import file column Map Constituent typ to Type, Lookup ID to Lookup ID, Last/Organization/Group/Household name to Last/Organization/Group/Household name and Industry to Industry. 7. Click Save. 8. Click Administration and then click Import Process select the Import and then click Start process. 9. After the process has completed go to Batch entry and commit the batch created from Import process. 10. View results and check Constituent records that should have populated Industry field and notice they are still blank.
