Unable to add link to image in email

You are trying to hyperlink an image in NetCommunity in an email message. After clicking Insert, the box does not close and the link is not added. You may also see the box increase in size.
This issue was resolved in the latest version of Blackbaud NetCommunity. If this behavior is persistent, please confirm you’re on the latest version of NetCommunity.

If you have not been upgraded yet, in the interim:
  • Some users are able to utilize the Firefox browser to hyperlink image via: Highlight the image>Click Insert Link. Note: the image must be highlighted (turn blue), the image won't hyperlink if it's only selected (little white boxes around). 
  • If Firefox does not work for you, hyperlinks will need to be added through the HTML - Within this link, the section you'll need to follow is "HTML Links - Image as Link".

Note: we recommend taking a backup of the HTML and saving it locally in case something goes awry in the editing process. NetCommunity does not have a revert option for emails design.
  1. Click View>Source Code
  2. Locate your Image URL tag, which should look similar to this: <img src="www.websiteurlg.org/view.image?Id=1234"/>
  3. Wrap the image tag as follows: <a href="www.desiredhyperlink.com"><img src="www.websiteurlg.org/view.image?Id=1234"/></a>
    • ​​Image: img src="www.websiteurlg.org/view.image?Id=1234"/
    • Wrap image in - Beginning tag: <a href="www.desiredhyperlink.com"> end tag </a>
    • www.desiredhyperlink.com - replace this with your desired hyperlink
  4. When finished, click OK, then click Save

Steps to Duplicate

  1. Log in to NetCommunity
  2. Navigate to Email>Messages
  3. Click the Pencil icon to edit your Message
  4. While editing an email message, highlight your image
  5. Click Insert>Link
  6. Enter or search for and select the link to insert
  7. Click Insert
    • Upon clicking Insert, the box does not clear. You may also see the box size increase
