When using a Special Event, if a constituent registers once for themselves and then registers a second time to purchase registrations for guests, the second registration will not show as a gift. Instead, it will be listed as Event Registration, even though the Fees should be going to the designation only.
This issue has been resolved in version 5.0. All sites have been updated in April 2018. If you experience this error, please chat with support to provide the exact steps that were taken.
Steps to Duplicate
Go to Sales>Daily Sales
Search for a patron in the top left. Any constituent is fine.
Find and click the "Event Registrations..." button.
Search for an appropriate Special Event that applies fees to designations
In the Event Registration page, click Add.
Choose a registration Option, and then choose the Patron as the Registrant.
Click Save. Complete the Order.
Follow steps 2-5 once more, using the same Patron.
For the Registrants this time, select someone else, so that the Patron is purchasing someone else's Registration.
Click Save and complete the order.
Go to the constituent record by searching for this Constituent at the top.
Go to the Revenue tab, and click the Revenue History tab.
See that one purchase is a gift, while the second purchase is an Event Registration.
