When renewing member to new membership level their record shows they upgraded

I renewed a member but they changed their membership level. Now their membership record shows they upgraded instead of renewed.
When a member changes from their current membership level at a renewal, Altru sees this as an upgrade or downgrade. Altru does not distinguish between an upgrade midterm and an upgrade at a renewal. Both are listed as upgrades for reporting purposes.

Steps to Duplicate

From Daily Sales/Advanced Sales:
  1. Search for Patron
  2. Click Renew button
  3. From cart, click on membership and select Edit
  4. Change membership level and complete transaction
  5. Navigate to membership record
  6. Within Recent membership transactions, see renewal listed as Upgrade

From Back office:
  1. From constituent record, click on membership record
  2. Click the Renew now button
  3. Change the membership level and complete transaction
  4. Navigate to membership record
  5. Within Recent membership transactions, see renewal listed as Upgrade
