Why do Data Warehouse queries run slower on newer data than on old data?

Users may find that queries and reports that run against the Blackbaud  Data Warehouse are performing slower on newer records than on older records, sometimes with significant differences. This issue may become more apparent the longer it has been since a full ETL reset.
This issue is most likely attributed to database maintenance. As new records are added to the warehouse during ETL refreshes, they will need to be indexed to maintain good performance. Please ensure your organization's maintenance plan includes a strategy for the Blackbaud Data Warehouse database.
