When you install CRM and/or BBIS, a Web.config file is included to define configuration settings and store information about how the application will behave. The Web.config file contains information such as security information and application settings. The CRM web.config file is located in the CRM installation directory's vroot folder. For example, if C:\Blackbaud\bbappfx\ is your installation directory, go to C:\Blackbaud\bbappfx\vroot to open the CRM web.config file. Similarly, the BBIS web.config file is located in the BBIS installation directory's NetCommunity folder. For example, if C:\Blackbaud\ is your installation directory, you go to C:\Blackbaud\NetCommunity to open the BBIS web.config file.
Within the Web.config file's AppSettings element, you can define a variety of settings for either application. To view information about the available keys in this section of the CRM web.config file, go to the CRM start page > Click Utilities > When the Utilities, Gadgets and Reference page loads, click Web.Config AppSetting documentation under Reference Documents. To view the available keys in the BBIS web.config file's AppSettings section, first remote into the BBIS web server; like the testconfig page, the AppSettingInfo page can only be viewed from the web server where BBIS is installed. The BBIS AppSettingsInfo page URL also happens to be similar to the testconfig page URL, except instead of /testconfig.aspx, the URL ends with /appsettinginfo.aspx. For example, https://examplesite.org/appsettinginfo.aspx
The CRM and BBIS AppSettings pages appear with a table that describes the application settings that you can configure through the Web.config file. Blackbaud does not support the configuration of any AppSettings that are not documented within the AppSettings List.
