When running a report or dashboard, the gift count and donor count (constituent count) are different? Why are the No. Donors and No. Gifts not the same?
A donor number is the count of constituent records that have at least one gift that meets the criteria of the report or Dashboard panel. (Note: This is often seen as No. Donors, or number of donors.)
A gift number is the count of actual gift records on constituent records that meet the criteria of the report or Dashboard panel. (Note: This is often seen as No. Gifts, or number of gifts.)
The gift number can be higher that then donor number because they can make more than one gift within a date range and/or to a fund/appeal/campaign. For example, a donor with a recurring gift will count as one in the donor count but each recurring gift payment will count as one in the gift count.
