Error: The attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your connection information and that the report server is a compatible version. There is an error in XML document - when running the duplicate search report

When attempting to run the duplicate constituent report in Altru you may run into this error message: 
  • The attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your connection information and that the report server is a compatible version.
    • There is an error in XML document (XXXX).
      • '', hexadecimal value 0x03, is an invalid character. Line X, position XXXX.
This error will occur when a constituent has a special character in their name. If you are currently experiencing this issue please chat with support and reference this article

Steps to Duplicate

  1. Click Constituents > Duplicates 
  2. Click Duplicate Constituent Report 
  3. Change the Duplicate record source to Full Duplicate Constituent Search Process Results
  4. Click View report
