My applicant tried to forward their completed application form in the grantee portal via email to one of their colleagues, but they continuously receive the error below:
'[E-mail address] is not a valid e-mail address in the format: email@example.com'
Why does this occur and how can it be prevented?
If your applicant sees the error '[E-mail address] is not a valid e-mail address in the format: firstname.lastname@example.org', it is likely that the person they are emailing has a non-traditional email address, such as email@example.com. Though many of these non-traditional email formats have been added to our system as acceptable, some may have not, resulting in this error.
You can also have the applicant send themselves the email copy of the application and allow them to forward from their own email service.
Another possible cause is that the applicant may have copied and pasted their colleague's email address. If they accidentally added a space or two, this will interfere with the sending of the email and will cause the error to appear. Simply have your applicant type out the recipient's email address instead to be safe.
