Vulnerabilities in Intel chips going back 15 years were announced last week. These vulnerabilities affect all Intel processors used in, but not limited to, Desktops, Laptops, Servers, Storage systems, Bio-Medical systems, and Mobile devices.
How does this impact my hosted database? What is Blackbaud's remediation plan?
Blackbaud is aware of a set of side-channel vulnerabilities, “Meltdown” and “Spectre” that affect modern computer processors (CPUs). While this is not unique to Blackbaud, your security is always our priority, and we have taken additional measures within our own control to help mitigate any threats.
Our teams are reviewing the issue and potential impact and are working actively with third-party vendors and suppliers to swiftly implement patches as they become available. However, there is no indication of any exploitation of this vulnerability at Blackbaud.
We encourage you to talk to all of your IT-related providers to ensure they too are taking the necessary measures to protect your information. Additional information regarding Meltdown and Spectre can be found here: http://kb.cert.org/vuls/id/584653.
