Duplicate records are created after purchasing tickets to a preregistered program online

When registering online for a preregistered program, duplicate constituent records are being created when the registrant enters the same First Name, Last Name, and Email address information for the Registrant and Personal information fields.
We are currently evaluating this issue and will update this article when we have more information. While we are working to prevent duplicate records from being created, we can require the registrant's address information in addition to their First Name, Last Name and Email. To require the Address fields, please follow the steps below:
  1. From Web > Click Manage Event Registrations
  2. Click the arrow to the left of your Event, Click Options
  3. In the Fields to Include section, Ensure the following fields are marked as required
    1. First Name
    2. Email Address
    3. Address
  4. Click Save

Steps to Duplicate

Step 1 : Create a Preregistered Program
  1. Click Tickets > Click Add Scheduled Program
  2. On the Add a scheduled Program form enter the following information:
    1.     Name 
    2.     Capacity 
    3.     Price Types 
  3. Check the Box Requires Registration
  4. Click Save
Step 2: Schedule Program Event
  1. From Tickets, Click Schedule Program Events
  2. Search and Select the program created above in the Program Search Screen
  3. Enter the Event Details
    1.     Name
  4. Enter the Date Recurrence
    1.     Choose Single Date
    2.     Enter a date
  5. Enter the Time Recurrence
    1.     Enter the Start and stop time of the event
  6. Click Save
Step 3: Approve the Program for the Web
  1. From Web > Click Manage Event Registrations
  2. Search your event
  3. Click the arrow to the left of the event, Click Approve for Web
  4. Click the arrow to the left of the event, Click Options
  5. In the fields to Include Section
    1. Ensure the only options required are First Name and Email Address
  6. Click Save
Step 4: Purchase a Registration
  1. From Web > Click Manage Event Registrations
  2. Search your Event
  3. Click the arrow to the left of the event, Click the URL
  4. Add 1 Adult Ticket to the Cart
  5. Enter the following information in the registrant field
    1. First Name
    2. Last Name
    3. Email Address
  6. Mark the box use this as my billing information
  7. Click Add to Cart
  8. Enter the following information in the Personal Information fields
    1. First Name - ensure this is the same information entered above
    2. Last Name - ensure this is the same information entered above
    3. Email Address - ensure this is the same information entered above
    4. Phone
    5. Country
    6. Address
    7. City
    8. State
    9. Zip 
  9. Mark the Box use this as my billing information
  10. Click Checkout
  11. Enter a credit card number , Expiration, and CSC code
  12. Click Complete Payment
Step 5: Search Altru and see that two constituent records were created. One with the Sales Order and One for the Registrant
  1. From Constituents, Click Constituent Search
  2. Search the constituent you registered above
  3. See that there are two records
    1. Record 1 contains her email, address, and sales order information
    2. Record 2 constains her email, has a blank address, and on the events tab lists the event the constituent has registered for
