Error: Cannot insert duplicate key row in object 'dbo.UNIQUESSN' with unique index 'UCI_UNIQUESSN_1'. Native error:2601 - when importing new constituent records

User receives the error message when importing records with the SSN field in the import file:

Error saving record: General ODBC Error: [Microsoft] [ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] Cannot insert duplicate key row in object 'dbo.UNIQUESSN' with unique index 'UCI_UNIQUESSN_1'. Native error:2601 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] The statement has been terminated. Native error: 3621.

This error is caused by a duplicate Social Security Number already being in the database. It will NOT show up during data validation unless the Use the Social Security Number option is marked for "How do you want the system to identify existing constituents?"
  1. Correct the duplicated Social Security Number that is already in your database
  2. Correct the duplicated Social Security Number that is in your import file
  3. Remove the Social Security Number from your import file
  SSN Error Import Test File.csv

Steps to Duplicate

  1. Manually enter a test record with a social security number value of xxx-xx-1234
  2. Import a new constituent record with social security number value of xxx-xx-1234. Import using either Use the Import ID or Use the Constituent ID in "Which ID Field do you want to use?")
An example import file is attached. Bear in mind, these are the fields that are typically required for a new record to be added to the database. You may need to add additional columns to satisfy your database's business rules.
