Review the link that is being used in the Email Blast:
  • Enter the full URL link in the link field. For example, don't enter blackbaud.com but https://www.blackbaud.com. (Tip: Test the exact link you enter in a web browser.) Here is how that should look:
example URL link entry for Online Express email blast
  • Is the link correct? Open it directly in a web browser to see if it works. (Tip: Always test a link that someone sends you to insert in the email. If what was sent does not open directly, it will not open in the email blast.)
  • Is the link really long or unnecessarily long? Try to shorten it if possible. (Tip: If someone passes along a link, such as copying Google search results, they might be including search results or unnecessary information that can result in a really long link. Visit the site directly and grab the direct link from the actual page.)
  • If the link opens from the email blast, but appears to hang, then it's possible that that the site is not accepting the Online Express link that includes formatting to track click-thrus (Email Performance Stats in Online Express). When this happens, use a URL (web link) shortener on the link, and then insert this generated link in the Online Express email blast. Some common URL shorteners are Bit.ly and TinyURL.com.** (Tip: These shortened links can also be used for social media posts.)
