While attempting to process a membership transaction you may receive this error message: Memberships with automatic renewals require a credit card on file. Please enter a credit card payment to complete this order.
This error message will appear in Altru when processing a membership transaction and marking the membership for Auto-Renewal without adding a credit card as payment.
When the automatic renewal option is selected during a membership transaction a credit card payment must be used to complete the payment
If you experience this error message while attempting to process a free membership complete the membership transaction as a non automatic renewal membership first. Then use these steps to add the automatic renewal functionality to the membership
Note: The credit card payment does not have to cover the entire amount of the order or membership. As long as the credit card is used to pay for a portion of the transaction Altru will allow the transaction to be completed
