If a family's ACH payment failed due to insufficient funds (R01 code), will Smart Tuition re-attempt the payment? Also, do we notify families for this type of payment failure?
Yes - for a reason of Insufficient Funds (R01), Smart Tuition will re-attempt to draft a payment 10 days from the original attempt date. For instance, if the due date lands on a Saturday (20th) and the first attempt is on Monday (22nd) but the payment fails for NSF funds, then the re-attempt will be 10 days later, or on the 1st of February in this example.
*** NOTE - We DO NOT notify families if their payment fails due to insufficient funds because we don't want to harp on our parents that are having financial trouble and by notifying them that a late fee has been applied (if applicable for your school), then they know that a make-up payment needs to be made.
