New DonorCentral Authentication Update for DC NXT to use Blackbaud Authentication Service

Monday June 25th, all of your existing users will be migrated to the Blackbaud Authentication service and any new users will have a different initial login experience.
  1. Login Page Setup
    In Control Panel > Settings, there is a new tab entitled “Login page and branding.” We have ported over your current logo into this area but be sure to update the text on page to match your organization’s messaging. We suggest:

    "Our login has updated! First time back? Enter your credentials and follow the reset steps. New login? Follow the welcome email instructions. Questions? Call ###-###-####."
     
  2. What will the migration flow be like for returning donors (donors who already have an account)?
You can find that information here, https://community.blackbaud.com/forums/viewtopic/308/40649. To note, these donors can reuse their current password if they would like.


3. Welcome Email configuration
You can see the new un-editable merged content that will be in your emails starting June 25th in number 4 below. In the current configurable email content there is text that states the link will expire in 7 days, this is no longer true. Please go ahead and update your welcome email content to something along the lines of:
“Your DonorCentral account has been activated! Use the link below to access the site.”


4. What will happen with new donor accounts?
Nothing will change in the FIMS/DonorCentral configuration of new accounts. The only thing that will change is the process in which the donor initially configures their account. Currently donors are sent an email with a link to reset their password and then login to DonorCentral.  Any new donor account created after the morning of June 25th, will receive a welcome email with the following content and will follow the process outlined below instead of the password reset process:

To complete the login process, follow one of the options below. Be sure to use [[userEmailAddress]] when completing this process.

If you use a Google Account:

 
  1. Click the "Sign in with Google" link.
You will see a Google Login.
  1. Enter your Google login credentials.
  2. You will then be logged In.
     
If you do not have a Google Account and do NOT have a Blackbaud ID yet:
 
  1. On the Login page, click the "Don't have a Blackbaud ID? Create a new one" link.
  2. Fill in the form to create your Blackbaud ID.
  3. You will be sent an email to confirm your email address associated with your Blackbaud ID.
  4. Click the link on the confirmation email to confirm your Blackbaud ID.
  5. You will be redirected back to the Login page.
  6. Enter your newly created credentials.
  7. You will then be logged in.

If/when you have a Blackbaud ID
 
  1. Enter your credentials on the Login page.
  2. You will then be logged in.

5. What happens to users who were invited this week but don’t click the link to reset their password until June 25th?
For these users guide them to use the “Forgot Password” link on the login screen to reset their password.

6. What happened to my Password Reset and Forgot Password emails?
Since your donors will now be managing their own logins (a timesaver for you), these emails are no longer necessary and will be removed from DonorCentral on June 25th.
