Gift refunded in BBMS without record of refund in CRM

When auditing transactions between BBMS and CRM, one may find gifts that have been refunded in BBMS without record of a refund in Production CRM.
This can happen when a transaction is created in your Live merchant account, a non-Production environment is then refreshed from Production, and the transaction that was created in the Live merchant account is refunded in your non-Production environment.

This is possible because transactions are tied directly to the merchant account in which they were created. 

To avoid adversely affecting Live transactions in non-Production environments, it is best practice to test only with transactions that are created in a Test/Demo merchant account.
