A scholarship, award, fellowship, grant, or any other vehicle to which applicants apply is referred to as an Opportunity in the system.
  • The term Opportunity is also used in the navigation bar throughout the system, though you may call "opportunities" by any other name.
Opportunities are a cornerstone of the system and contain the the basic materials for a scholarship or financial funding application process.

They are three types of opportunities:
  • Auto-Match: the system matches qualified applicants to the opportunity
  • Apply-to: the system recommends opportunity to semi-qualified applicants, but applicant must manually apply to the opportunity
  • External: no matching, applications, or awarding occurs, and applicants are directed outside the system to apply
Each opportunity holds information for only a specific time period. As such, you will have multiple opportunities for the same umbrella scholarship or award as you run several application cycles over several years. Opportunities are a subset of Portfolios, which bundle together all opportunities over multiple application cycles.
