When setting up a Letter Grade Scale, it is important to remember you are setting a set point value for each letter. Letter Grade scales should always reach a max value of 100 if teachers plan on using the Percentages calculation method.  If there is no value with a Numeric Value of 100 the student’s cumulative grade will calculate incorrectly.

In the case of the Total Points and Total Points with weight, the system will take the numeric value that was entered for the letter grade and that becomes a percentage of the Max Points set for the assignement.

The letter grade scale is not recommended for schools that need to calculate a Term Grade Average for Students in Grading.
