If you want to change one Affiliation code to another across Profiles, you cannot simply change the code in the Affiliation code table. You need to create the new code and mass assign it to anyone that has the existing code. Then you'll be able to mass remove the old code from all Profiles. The steps below explain how to accomplish this using the following example: 

You have an affiliation code called Mailing assigned to many Profiles. You want to change this code because it too generic. You want to change it to Newsletter because it is more specific.  

To add the new Affiliation code:
  1. Click on File Maintenance > Profile Code Maintenance > Affiliation.
  2. Click the New button and type Newsletter in the Affiliation Code field. 
  3. Fill in the Description and Maintained By fields. 
  4. Click Save.
To modify the existing code:
  1. Click on the binoculars tool bar button to bring up the complete list of Affiliation codes.
  2. Find the existing Mailing code and double-click to open the record.
  3. Check the Temporary box. 
  4. Click Save, and Close.
To assign the new Newsletter code to everyone who has the Mailing code:
  1. Click Profile File Maintenance > Affiliation Code Mass Add.
  2. In the First Affiliation Code field type Mailing (or select it from the lookup).
  3. In the Affiliation Code to Mass Add field type Newsletter (or select it from the lookup). ( You are not filling in Second Affiliation)
  4. Click OK and Yes. 
  5. You will receive a confirmation when it is done.
To mass remove the Mailing code from all profiles:
  1. Click on Profile File Maintenance > Delete Temp Affiliation Codes.
  2. In the Affiliation Code to Delete field type in Mailing (or select it from the lookup).
  3. (Optional) Check the box to Delete System Added Group Affiliation Codes if applicable.
  4. Click OK and Yes. 
  5. You will receive a confirmation when it is done.
To delete  Mailing from the Affiliation Code Table:
  1. Click on Profile File Maintenance > Profile Code Maintenance > Affiliation.
  2. Find the Mailing code and select it. 
  3. Then click the X on the tool bar to delete the code.
