This issue can be resolved if getting the error message
“Error Occurred while accessing component property/method:
Requested object is not available.
Error Code: 0x80020009 gui\system\MergeDoc.p (5890)”
  • with MS Office 2013 had to do with a change under MS Word Options.
You’ll find that you’ll need to go under File>“Word Options” in MS Word.   Located under the section of “Start Up Options”, you’ll want to uncheck the box designated for “Open e-mail attachments and other uneditable files in reading view.” You’ll find that this is different from the Options found in MS Word 2010 and earlier.
You may also need to resave your merge templates from a .DOC or a .DOCX to a .DOTM (Macro Enabled Document).  If you did find that you needed to resave the merge documents as a .DOCM file, then you’ll want to make sure that you go through your Saved Reports for potentially:
  • Gift Acknowledgement Export
  • Gift History – Export
  • Export Grant Information
  • Fund Statement Export
  • Consolidated Fund Statement Export
*Any Reports using the “Auto-Launch Document” feature.
Once you’ve made these changes you should find that the Auto-Launch Merge Document will now work correctly.
