With 64-bit installations of Windows becoming more prevalent, some clients have reported difficulty in finding the Excel program in order to open exports  or the Trends and Analysis launches from FIMS.

Once you've located your exported file:

1) Right click the file, and select Open With.
2) In the window that opens, click the browse button. In many workstations, Windows may be a 64-bit installation, whereas Microsoft Office may be a 32-bit installation. You may not be sure of which type of installation you have, but here are the two locations you can potentially find the Excel.exe file needed to open your export:
  • C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\EXCEL.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\EXCEL.exe
For local installs, the executable file could be under either path. For Host*Net, you will need to use the second option.

The Office14 folder refers to Microsoft Office 2010.  If you have a different version of Microsoft Office, you may need to look in Office13 or Office15 if such folders exist.
