Options to delete write-offs from The Raiser's Edge: We recommend creating a new pledge if a donor decides to resume a previously written-off pledge so that Raiser's Edge and Financial Edge stay balanced. 

Deleting a write-off from a pledge record

  1. In Records, click Gifts.
  2. Open the pledge that was written off.
  3. On the Installments/Payments tab, highlight the write-off to delete.
  4. Right-click and select Go to write-off.
  5. On the Write-Off screen, select File, Delete from the menu bar.
  6. At the "Are you sure you want to delete this write-off record?" prompt, click Yes.
OR
  1.  In Records, click Gifts.
  2. Open the pledge that was written off.
  3. On the menu bar, select Gift, View Write-Offs.
  4. Highlight the appropriate write-off and select Delete. 
 

Deleting write-offs globally

The Write-Off and MG Write-Off gift types cannot be globally deleted. They can only be deleted from the Pledge or MG Pledge record. Please refer to the Deleting a write-off from a pledge record section.

 

Deleting posted write-offs

When a Write-Off is posted to the General Ledger, entries are created in the General Ledger to reverse pledge amount in the record. If a posted Write-Off is deleted, then entries are created to "put back" the pledge balance that the Write-Off was removing.
  1. To delete a posted Write-Off, please refer to the Deleting a write-off from a pledge record section.
  2. To post the deletion, post adjustments and reversals only to General Ledger. Or to block the posting of the Write-Off deletion to the General Ledger, please refer to how to prevent a reversal from posting to the General Ledger.
