To query on gifts with specific appeals:

  1. Create a Gift query.
  2. On the Criteria tab, select Appeals, Appeal Description (or Appeal ID) equals [the appeal].
    Note: To query on more than one appeal, use the one of operator.


To query on gifts without an appeal:

  1. Create a Gift query.
  2. On the Criteria tab, select Appeals, Appeal Description (or Appeal ID) blank..
 

To query on constituents with gifts to specific appeals:

  1. Create a Constituent query.
  2. On the Criteria tab, select Gifts, Appeals, Appeal Description (or Appeal ID) equals [the appeal].
    Note: To query on more than one appeal, use the one of operator.
 

To query on constituents with gifts without an appeal:

  1. Create a Constituent query.
  2. On the Criteria tab, select Gifts, Appeals, Appeal Description (or Appeal ID) blank.
 

To query on constituents who have not given to a specific appeal, excluding those who have never given:

  1. Create a Constituent query.
  2. Filter on Gifts, Appeals, Description does not equal [the appeal].
 

To query on constituents who have not given to a specific appeal, including those who have never given:

  1. Create a Constituent query with no criteria (Query A).
  2. Create a query for the constituents who gave to the specific appeal.
  3. Merge the queries with Query A as the primary, Query B as the secondary, and use SUB as the operator.

OR

  1. Create a Constituent query.
  2. On the Criteria tab, select:
    Summary Information*, Summary for Gift, Total Number of Gifts equals 0. On the Filters tab, select:

    Gift Information Appeals, Description equals [the appeal]
    * Refer to How to use Summary Information query filters (BB237530).

OR

  1. Run the Non-Contributors Report.
  2. On the General tab, mark Create an output query.
  3. On the Filters tab, select the appropriate appeal.
  4. Print or preview the report and save the output query.
 

To query on constituents who have given to only one appeal:

  1. Create a Constituent query (Query A) and filter on Gifts, Appeals, Description one of [the specific appeals].
  2. Create a Constituent query (Query B) and filter on Gifts, Appeals, Description one of [all other appeals].
  3. Merge the queries with Query A as the primary, Query B as the secondary, and use SUB as the operator.

Note: This includes constituents who have gifts to one or more of the selected appeals but have never given to any other appeals. It does not include constituents whose only gift(s) has a blank appeal.
Note: Use equals/does not equal as the operator if selecting only one appeal.

For example, if you are querying on constituents who have given to the Annual Appeal and the Direct Mailing Appeal but no other appeal:

  1. Create a Constituent query (Query A) and filter on Gifts, Appeals, Description one of Annual Appeal, Direct Mailing Appeal.
  2. Create a Constituent query (Query B) and filter on Gifts, Appeals, Description one of [select all other appeals in the list].
  3. Merge the queries with Query A as the Primary, Query B as the secondary, and use SUB as the operator.
 

To query on constituents who gave to one specific appeal but not to another specific appeal:

     

    Note: If you want to find constituents who gave to an appeal last year but not this year, run the LYBUNT report.

    • Create a Constituent query.
    • On the Criteria tab, select:

      Summary Information*, Summary for Gift, Total Number of gifts Greater than or equal to 1. On the Filters tab, select:

      Appeals, Appeal ID equals [appeal].


      AND Summary Information*, Summary for Gift, Total Number of gifts Equals 0.
      On the Filters tab, select:

      Appeals, Appeal ID One Of [appeals].
