Try each of the following steps in order until the issue is resolved:
 

  1. Ensure the amount credited to the solicitor is not greater than the gift amount:
     
    1. Place the cursor in the appropriate gift row
       
    2. Note the value in the Amount field
       
    3. Select Gift, Solicitors
       
    4. On the Solicitors Credited for this Gift screen, ensure the values in the Amount column are less than or equal to the Amount value on the data entry screen
       
    5. Click OK
       
  2. Delete and re-enter the gift row causing the error message
     
  3. Remove default constituents from Batch Setup:
     
    1. In the batch, select Tools, Edit Batch Setup
       
    2. On the Defaults tab, highlight General in the left pane
       
    3. Ensure the Default Value column is blank on the Constituent Name row or contains a constituent without active assigned solicitors
       
    4. Click Data Entry to return to the data entry screen
        
  4. If the Solicitor field is in the batch but not being used:

    1. Select Tools, Edit Batch Setup from the menu bar
       
    2. On the Fields tab, remove Solicitor names from the Data entry fields frame
       
    3. Click Data Entry to return to the data entry screen
       
    • Ensure all soft credit amounts for the gift are less than or equal to the gift amount:

      1. Place the cursor in the appropriate gift row
         
      2. Note the value in the Amount column
         
      3. Select Gift, Soft Credit
         
      4. On the Soft Credit for [Constituent Name] screen, ensure the values in the Amount column are less than or equal to the Amount value on the data entry screen
         
      5. Click OK
         
      6. Unmark the option to automatically apply cash gifts to pledges and recurring gifts:

        1. Select File, Commit Completed Batch from the menu bar
           
        2. Unmark the Automatically apply gifts to pledges and recurring gifts checkbox
           
        3. Save and close the batch then re-open it
