With SQL Server 2000 Standard or Enterprise Edition a user has the ability to create Views, Functions and Translation Tables within the Raiser's Edge 7 or Financial Edge databases. Blackbaud suggests that another SQL Database be created on the SQL Server specific for client created Views, Functions and Translation Tables, pointing towards the Raiser's Edge Database. If instead placing these in the Raiser's Edge database, the following should be considered.

  1. All client created Views, Functions and Translation Tables are not migrated if the Raiser's Edge or Financial Edge database is migrated to a new database. In this case, all client created Views, Functions and Translation Tables will have to be recreated.

  2. There is a chance that Blackbaud will create a new Table, View of Function and use the same name and therefore will overwrite the client created one. For this reason it is suggested that a naming convention be adopted for all client created Views, Functions and Translation Tables. For example: SiteName_ViewName.

Note: Blackbaud's Customer Support will be unable to assist in any manner with the client created Views, Functions and Translation Tables.
